DOCUMENTATION CENTER OF THE HISTORY MUSEUM OF MARSEILLES

Fully renovated, the centre allows the public to (re)discover a location of essential resources for the curious who love to learn more and all enthusiasts of the history of Marseilles and its region.

The Documentation Centre of the History Museum of Marseilles offers:

DEATH CAMPS MEMORIAL

The Death Camps Memorial is located between Fort Saint-Jean and the church of Saint-Laurent

Currently closed to the public, a renovation and upgrading project is under way that aims to incorporate it as a full component of the historical journey.

Its subject will be extended to the Second World War in Marseilles.

MUSEUM OF ROMAN DOCKS

This exceptional remnant of a Roman warehouse evokes the port activity of Marseilles between the 6th century BC and the 4th century AD.

The actual vocation of the city as a transit port is evidenced by the objects on show, the fruit of underwater archaeological research: amphora, elements of superstructure, everyday objects etc.

MEMORIAL TO LA MARSEILLAISE

The history of La Marseillaise, the revolutionary song sung by the united people (‘fédérés) of Marseilles during their journey to Paris in 1792, had never been emphasized by the City of Marseilles. This has now been done with the restoration of the "Club des Jacobins" and the establishment of a presentation tour tracing its history.

Visiting terms:

Tuesday and Friday at 10am and 2pm: Schools, play centres, public from the social sphere, guided tours with reservation on 04 91 55 36 00

Tuesday and Friday at 10.30am and 3pm: Individual public (without reservation, free visit).

Go beforehand to the History Museum of Marseilles to purchase tickets from 10am onwards. Departure from the History Museum of Marseilles.
